Roberto Perocchio was born in Aschaffenburg (Germany) on 22 September 1961. After obtaining his legal degree, he became a member of the executive council of the Italian Marine Industry Association (1990 – 2008).
In 1991 he was appointed to the boating facilities development board of ICOMIA (International Council of Marine Industries Associations with headquarters in London). In September 2009 he was appointed chairman of ICOMIA Marinas Group. He assisted in organising the International Marina Conference that focused on marina management. From 2010 to 2011 he held the position of director EU relations/Adriatic Sea at MEDCRUISE (The Association of the Mediterranean Cruise Ports).
From 2005 to 2012 he was a member of the board of directors of V.Y.S.A. (Venice Yacht & Ships Assistance). In 2013 he was appointed president.
In 2011 he was named president of VTP Engineering S.r.l., an organisation offering engineering solutions to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of port processes. In the same year he became a member of the board of directors of Catania Cruise Terminal S.r.l. He has served as national vice president of Federturismo – Confindustria since 2013.
